In 1975, Don Sacramento Rodriguez opened one of the first Mexican restaurants in the United States, in the city of Athens, Georgia. There, he created along his wife Josephine, also known as, Doña Pepa, the most delicious recipes inspired by their hometown Jalisco, Mexico. Together they named the restaurant El Azteca.

In 1975, Don Sacramento Rodriguez opened one of the first Mexican restaurants in the United States, in the city of Athens, Georgia. There, he created along his wife Josephine, also known as, Doña Pepa, the most delicious recipes inspired by their hometown Jalisco, Mexico. Together they named the restaurant El Azteca.

Continuing the legacy of the Rodriguez family, on September 6, 2014, his son Lorenzo Rodriguez, opened the first Don Julio Mexican Kitchen and Tequila Bar on Chickasaw in Orlando, Florida. Lorenzo continued to grow his family’s legacy throughout Central Florida by opening locations in Lake Mary, Waterford Lakes and Eagle Creek.
